Maple Bear Olomouc

Our kindergarten Maple Bear in Olomouc is located on Kosmonautů Avenue in the newest premise of the BEA campus, which is called the BEA city business residence. The spacious, modern kindergarten facilities are seamlessly connected to the school's playground, where children can spend time outdoors. Parking for parents is provided in the underground garage of the BEA campus for the time necessary to drop off and pick up their children at school.

The school is divided into three age-homogeneous classes:

1. Happy Frogs
"Happy Frogs" for children from 3 to 4 years old

2. Clever Kingfishers
"Clever little ice-breakers" for children from 4 to 5 years old

3. Smart Foxes
"Clever little foxes" for children from 5 to 6 years old

Meals are provided for children throughout the day through the Healthy Pecka bistro. Maple Bear Olomouc Elementary School, which will open in the 2025/2026 school year, will be located at the same address.

Jiří Zelenda

Jiří Zelenda is the CEO of Maple Bear Czechia. Prior to bringing Canada's largest education network to the Czech Republic, he held the position of CEO at Scio. Jiří has a long-standing commitment to innovation in education, as an experienced education manager he has already been at the birth of a successful new network of schools and advocates a student-centred educational approach that supports the holistic development of the child - intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. The same attitude is the basis of the educational methodology in Maple Bear Czechia schools. In his personal life, Jiří is a proud father of two children, whom he raises with his wife Adela. In his spare time, he is interested in history, especially Southeast Asia, which he has also studied.

Marketing Communication

Anna provides marketing communication for Maple Bear Kindergarten and Elementary School throughout Olomouc. She gained comprehensive marketing knowledge while working on campaigns for local businesses. She is interested in foreign educational methodologies, which is why she studied at a university in London, where she obtained her MSc in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship. Anna is also passionate about psychology, NLP and the dynamics of the multicultural environment.

Zuzana Bartsch Veselá

Zuzana Bartsch Veselá is a certified English language teacher with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and a Ph.D. in Pedagogy from Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic.

Her professional journey began as a primary school English teacher. Over the years, she has worked as a senior lecturer and researcher, specializing in early foreign language education, at universities in Olomouc, Czech Republic, and Rostock, Germany. Additionally, she has served as the academic coordinator for English language instruction for children aged 5-6 at the Kindergarten of Palacký University in Olomouc. She has also been actively involved in various international initiatives promoting intercultural and foreign language education.

Her teaching philosophy focuses on developing essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and global citizenship. She implements these principles through the use of children´s literature, particularly picture books.

Lukáš Ondruch

Lukáš is the director of Maple Bear Olomouc kindergarten. In his professional life, he combines management skills, while having a solid foundation in education and practice in teaching. He has been teaching for many years, lecturing and supervising graduate theses in the field of preschool and after-school pedagogy. He is also the co-founder of a successful technology startup. In his free time, he continues to educate himself, for example, he received a prestigious certification from Harvard Business School and studied English and Russian philology at Palacký University in Olomouc.

Real Estate & Development Manager

Iveta is responsible for the construction and operation of the Maple Bear Schools buildings. She researches suitable buildings, conducts building analysis, and is there from start to finish. She has gained her expertise through more than a decade of experience as an architect and development project manager. Her portfolio includes many hotel, mansion and school projects for leading global brands.

In addition to her professional achievements, you can recognize Iveta by her unmistakable extroverted personality. Her passion is discovering new gastronomic experiences and attending cultural performances and exhibitions. Thanks to her combination of a typical optimistic attitude and deep professional expertise, she develops Maple Bear Czechia projects to the maximum and moves them forward quickly.

What are the school's operating hours?

The kindergarten is open from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Does the school teach according to the current curriculum framework?

Yes, the teaching at Maple Bear Kindergarten is designed to align the Canadian curriculum with the Czech Framework Curriculum for Preschool Education. A team of Canadian education experts, after a thorough analysis of the requirements of the national curriculum frameworks, set up the Maple Bear Schools program to meet the outcomes set by the national ministries of education. Maple Bear Schools enrich local education systems with the best Canadian educational strategies and best practices.

How many children are in a grade?

Maple Bear's standards set a maximum of 20 children per kindergarten class. However, the number of students can be lower depending on class size.   

How many teachers care for the children?

According to Maple Bear's standards, two teachers care for each class.

What language is the program in?

The program is conducted in English, and children are exposed to the immersion method from an early age. 

If a child starts kindergarten later, will it be difficult for them to integrate into the program?

The earlier children start at Maple Bear, the easier it is for them to acquire a second language. It is also worth noting that the process of learning a second language is natural and usually does not require special care or attention from teachers. In a collaborative environment where one helps the other, new students quickly adapt to our hands-on approach to learning and soon get used to the methodology.  

Are meals provided for the children?

Yes, the children are provided with meals throughout the school day. 

Does the school offer extra-curricular activities?

Yes, the children have a variety of clubs to choose from. More precise information and pricing will be provided before the start of the school year.

Are the fees for extra-curricular activities included in the school fees?

Extra-curricular activities are not included in the tuition fee, however, Maple Bear does its best to price them according to the market and to offer a wide range of activities.  

Do children wear uniforms?

Yes, children at Maple Bear wear the uniform they receive from us at the beginning of the school year. It is possible to purchase individual uniform items at any time during the year.

Do children wear uniforms every day? Are there any exceptions?

Children come to school in uniform every day. However, individual Maple Bear schools may declare days when uniforms are not worn, usually on holidays and other special occasions.

Are textbooks provided to the children?

Maple Bear pupils receive textbooks at school, the cost of which is covered by tuition. Textbooks are based on Canadian and Czech educational materials.
