Kindergarten

Olomouc's Maple Bear Kindergarten is located on Kosmonautů Avenue in the newest stage of the BEA campus, which is called the BEA city business residence.

Modern facilities kindergarten

Maple Bear Kindergarten Olomouc is open every working day from 7:00 to 17:00. The school has three classrooms:

  • Nursery - Happy Frogs - 3-4 years

  • Junior Kindergarten - Clever Kingfishers - 4-5 years

  • Senior Kindergarten - Smart Foxes - 5-6 years

Each class follows its own classroom curriculum, which reflects the physiological and developmental needs of the children as much as possible.

The maximum capacity per class is 20 children.

Bilingual education

The programme is presented to children bilingually using the so-called immersion method. Thanks to this method, the children are "immersed" in the English language every day and thus do not learn the language, but acquire it in a natural way. In the Maple Bear Kindergarten Olomouc, however, thanks to bilingual education, the Czech language is also cultivated and developed.

In the daily regime of the preschool class (Smart Foxes), great attention is paid to school maturity in the so-called Czech Centre. The activities carried out in the Czech Centre consistently prepare children for enrolment in primary school and ensure a smooth transition between kindergarten and primary school.

Uniforms

Uniforms are an important part of the Maple Bear Olomouc Kindergarten. Uniforms are worn not only by the children, but by the entire staff. They evoke a sense of belonging in the children, serve as a safety feature (especially during daily outdoor activities) and also help the children to adapt when they start kindergarten.

Catering

Meals are provided for children throughout the day in the form of four meals (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack). Meals for children are provided by the school canteen - Healthy Pecka, s.r.o. Children are introduced to a varied diet enriched with plenty of fruit and vegetables. The children are encouraged to be self-supporting - they set their own table, take away dirty dishes, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ

Does the school follow the current Czech framework educational program?

Yes, the education in Maple Bear elementary schools is designed to harmonize the Canadian educational program with the Czech national framework educational program for school education. A team of Canadian education experts, after a thorough analysis of the requirements of national framework educational programs, has set up the Maple Bear school program to meet the outcomes set by the Ministries of Education in individual countries. Maple Bear schools enrich local educational systems with the best Canadian educational strategies and proven methods.

Is the school suitable for students who do not speak English?

Yes, at Maple Bear, students learn English without any problems. Our teachers help and facilitate communication for children using various methods, such as speech pace, phrasing and repetition, gestures, facial expressions, dramatic expression, and games. Children also learn through fun singing and joint performance of tasks, reciting poems, rhymes, and jingles, and through games. Teachers encourage and develop students' confidence in learning a new language by mostly correctly repeating their statements rather than correcting them.

How many teachers care for the children?

According to Maple Bear standards, more than half of the teaching is done by two teachers in each class – one English-speaking and one Czech-speaking.

In which language is the program conducted?

The program is conducted in Czech and English, and children are exposed to the immersive method from a young age.

Will it be difficult for a child to integrate into the program if they start school later?

The sooner children start at Maple Bear, the easier they will learn the second language. It is also worth mentioning that the process of learning a second language occurs naturally and usually does not require any special care or attention from the teachers. In an environment of mutual cooperation, where everyone helps each other, new students quickly adapt to our practical learning approach and become accustomed to the methodology.
